Centerpoint Facilitation Inc. has been coordinating between clients and social organizations in northern Alberta for over 20 years. The facilitation team uses the tools of person centered planning to work with individuals. Person centered planning is a process-oriented approach used in empowering people. It focuses on the people and their needs by putting them in charge of defining the direction for their lives, not on the systems that may or may not be available to serve them. For the past 20 years, Centerpoint has worked primarily with people with disabilities. Facilitators also work with individuals who at-risk of homelessness or inadequately housed. For more information contact Tammy Ouellette touellette@mycenterpoint.ca or 780-296-0223.
Grande Prairie Legal Guidance (GPLG) offers free legal guidance to low income individuals who have a legal problem and do not qualify for Legal Aid. GPLG uses income guidelines to determine whether individuals are able to qualify for assistance. Volunteer lawyers from the community donate their professional time to meet with clients and provide legal guidance and information. Legal services are offered "pro bono" which means there is no expectation of a fee. Services are intended to complement, not replace, a properly funded legal aid system. Pro Bono Legal Clinics are offered twice per month.
